Amir Lamar Carthell, Sr.

Remembering Amir

Amir Lamar Carthell Sr. was a beloved Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He was born January 7, 1982, to Brenda Ross and the Late Leonard Spencer Hooper, in Newark, New Jersey. Amir lived in New Jersey for 7 years of his life, before moving to California in 1988, and living there for most of his remaining years. Raised by his mother and stepfather Floyd Ross Sr., Amir was a Father and the third of 7 children. He leaves behind to mourn his 4 beautiful children: His two daughters, Amira Carthell and Alena Carthell; and his two sons, Amiir Lamar Carthell Jr. and Jaxson Jones. Also left to mourn him are: His Parents, Brenda, and Floyd Ross (Sr.); His six siblings, Tamika Rasheed, Floyd Ross Jr., William Carthell, Quintin Carthell, James Ross, and Jasmine Ross; as well as the mothers of his children, Shalena Spears and Pamala Jones; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Amir also leaves behind his beloved girlfriend of over 11 years, who He loved so much, Rolanda Ross, and her daughter, Dynasty Stewart, who he accepted as his own daughter. They weren’t just companions; They were Best Friends.

During High School, Amir had a love for music; he has many recordings of not just Rap but R&B, which became his main passion. He even released a mixtape “Everyday Struggle” in 2020, under the name Young Al aka Young Jefe. As a child, he always took things apart and put them back together again, earning him the nickname “Macgyver” from his older sister. This developed his other passion, fixing up cars and becoming a self-taught mechanic, due to his interest in how things worked. You could just give him anything and he could fix it. There was no toy you bought him that he didn’t take apart. I would say “Amir!!!” and he’d just say, “Wait a minute mom,” and it was always as Good as new when he put it back together.

For those who knew him, Amir was a great man to his children, family, and friends. He was so special, generous, inviting, warm and genuine. To know him, you had to love him. The love he showed to others, the big happy smile, even if he had to curse/Yell at you, you would still be friends, no love lost. Amir would give you the shirt off his back, even if he was mad at you, if you needed it. He set hatred aside, because to him, the world and its people were all his family. Amir loved to tell stories and I am sure we were all very entertained. Some good, some bad, but harmless, nevertheless. He touched the lives of many, leaving his fingerprints on the hearts of every person he came in contact with.

This is a summary of Amir Lamar Carthell Sr, one of the greatest of all time, My Angel.

You will live on through all of our hearts, I love you.
