Dennis Eugene Cross

February 9, 1942 — August 7, 2017

Dennis ( aka..The Menace ) Eugene Cross died in his home on August 7th, 2017 in Yucaipa Ca due to complications following brain cancer, He was 75.

Dennis was born on February 9th, 1942 to Jack & Katherine Cross in Danville Virginia. He served in the United States Marine Corps entering on July 21st 1960 and leaving in July 1964 as a Corporal. Shortly thereafter he met his life-long sweetheart of 50 years, Eileen J Diamond and married on September 11th 1965 in Yucaipa California.

After leaving the Marine Corps he worked and studied at California State University Fullerton to receive his Bachelor’s & Master’s Degree in American History & Social Science. He also received standard secondary life, sports/games credentials to enter into his teaching career. He was hired in 1970 by Anaheim Union High School where for 39 years he taught American History/Political Science/US Govt and coached Football/Baseball & Girls softball. He loved his students (aka “ his kids” ) and implemented many programs thru out his career to aid in their successful futures. He was an enthusiastic motivator for his students, challenging them to achieve to their highest potentials and was equally well loved by his students. With a combination of Southern Gentlemen sensibilities and Cultural awareness he sometimes spoke using old Southern slang such as ‘Hello Shugah’.
He is survived by his wife, brother, 3 sons and 3 grandchildren whom he dearly loved.

Dennis will be buried with Military Honors at Riverside National Cemetery on August 15th, 2017 at 12 noon. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
