Pearl Mae Katona, 93, of Yucaipa, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24thin Yucaipa, CA.
Pearl was born in Springfield, MA to Art and Lousie La Fountain on Christmas Day in 1926. As a young adult she and her family moved to San Bernardino, CA. She married William Katona on March 30, 1947 at the Presbyterian Church in San Bernardino. It wasnt long after when Kathie, their first of three daughters was born in 1948. Cindy, their second, was born just 18 months later in 1950. Her husband, William, was called to the Korean War shortly after and Pearl was left with two young daughters to care for. Upon Bills return, Pearl supported Bill in his tax preparation services during which their third daughter, Laurie arrived in 1953. Pearl continued to support Bill and the business for several years.
When Bill was at the war, Pearl heard the gospel for the first time. She immediately responded and Pearl became born again by inviting Jesus Christ into her heart as Lord and Savior. She raised her daughters in the Christian Faith all the while as a caregiver for her husbands family.
Pearl was an avid reader, a student of the Bible and LOVED to dance. She dearly loved and prayed daily for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is affectionately called the "Lollipop Nana."
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Katona of 60 years. She is survived by her Brother, three Daughters, eight Grandchildren, and twenty Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1stat 10:00am at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Yucaipa. Private family internment will immediately follow.
