Alfred, a longtime resident of Redlands, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018 in his home. Alfred was born in Orange, California and moved to Redlands at the age of four. Alfred served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Alfred obtained an Associate’s degree from San Bernardino Valley Community College and operated and income tax service for over 45 years. Alfred was a long – time volunteer with the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and participated in the choir. Alfred’s commitment to Redlands community was recognized by the Northside Impact Committee and he received the Latino Leadership Award on May 19, 2001.
Alfred is survived by his son, Raymond Armendariz, and daughter Irene Joseph (David), Anita Escudero (Raymond), Susan Hinojosa (Mike). Alfred was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 8 great – grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by his spouse of 54 years, Connie Armendariz. Alfred will be remembered as a man who came from humble beginnings, who worked tirelessly, and shared his talent and success with so many people. He will be dearly missed. Viewing will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Redlands, California. Graveside Service will be Friday, March 9, 2018 at 1:30 pm, at Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands, California.
