Allen Wayne Bone

December 7, 1948 — May 2, 2020

Allen Wayne Bone of Redlands, California, passed away on May 2, 2020 at the age of 71. Born in San Bernardino on December 7, 1948 to Charles W. and Eleanor J. Bone, he was a graduate of Pacific High School in 1966, and the Garden Grove Fire Academy in 1974.
Lovingly described by family members as the best dad, grandpa, husband, railroad aficionado, firefighting hero (serving Garden Grove Fire Department for 30 years), historian, and "Jeopardy" extraordinaire, this amazing man was seemingly everything to everyone he knew.
Allen loved spending time with his wife, Mary, camping in his RV, traveling, volunteering, and spending time with his grandkids. He often reminisced of the past, recounting the streets of his hometown, of his years as a Fire Engineer, Firefighter, and Lieutenant Volunteer Fireman.
Along with his good friend Steve Shaw, Allen joined the San Bernardino Historical and Pioneer Society in 1999. By working together, they further enhanced the significance of this great organization. Among Allens contributions were helping to establish annual events, enhancing city-wide recognition through community outreach. Allen and Shaw co-created the Pioneer Fire Company Museum in 1993, and eventually guided the incredible success of the San Bernardino History and Railroad Museum. He was most recently serving as President of the Historical Society and VP of the Museum.
Allen is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughters Dena Jensen (Eric), Taryn Espinosa (Mauricio), Maya Lipman (Anthony), grandkids Ezra Espinosa, Gabriel Jensen, Gael Espinosa, Mia Gowin, Nicolette Lipman, Natalie Lipman, and Seth Hahn.
