Anna Louise Gott

Anna (Sue) Louise Gott, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in the memory care unit of The Lakes at Banning assisted living community located in Banning, California. From her birth in Renova, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1935 to her death, she nourished people around her with love, caring, and her amazing cooking and arts and crafts skills. She was born to Nels and Verna Berry, and was the youngest of four children. Daniel (Dan) J. Gott of Erie, Pennsylvania was attracted to Sue, and subsequently proposed to her when she found the engagement ring in his sweater pocket while they were sitting on her front porch. Dan was trying to hide the box by pretending that the box was cough drops so that he could propose when the opportunity presented itself. Sue knew better and took the ring inside the house to show her mother. Sue and Dan married on November 23, 1953, and established a home in Erie, Pennsylvania. Shortly after the birth of their fourth child, Sue and Dan moved to Colton, California in 1962. The couple later moved to Calimesa, California with their children. Sue was employed by the San Bernardino Community College District - Crafton Hills College serving as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement. She spent her retirement years traveling with her husband, enjoying her home, and keeping busy with arts and crafts. She leaves behind her loving husband Dan, her four children, Diane (Daryl) Schlicke, Daniel G. Gott, Charles (aka Jim) (Dora) Gott, and Joseph (Sue) Gott; ten grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carl Berry, and sisters Mary Katherine Edwards and Martha McDaniel. Per her wishes, Sue’s remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 12692 5th Street, Yucaipa.
