On Thursday, July 7, 2022, Barry Noble Kolpien, loving husband and father of two children, passed away suddenly at the age of 73.
Barry was born on August 26, 1948 in Westfield, NY to Allen and Mary Ann Kolpien. He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from SUNY Fredonia. After graduating he was hired by Aetna and moved to California. He remained with Aetna after their acquisition by Travelers working as an Insurance Sales Executive. He retired in 2019 after 47 years.
On September 21, 1991, he married Beth Davis. They raised their two children, Emily and Matthew, in Redlands, CA.
Barry was very active in the community. He volunteered with United Way for many years and after retiring he was a docent at the Lincoln Shrine almost every Sunday. In his free time he enjoyed watching home improvement shows, playing golf with his son and friends, reading mystery novels, and wrangling 6 family cats.
Barry was preceded in death by his father, Allen, and his mother, Mary Ann. He is survived by his wife Beth and their two children Emily and Matthew; sister Beth Kolpien Gourley and her husband Rick; and many caring in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29th, at Redlands United Church of Christ, 168 Bellevue Ave., Redlands. A reception will follow at the Redlands Country Club. For the service and reception, guests are encouraged to wear golf or colorful attire.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his name to the Watchorn Lincoln Memorial Association (125 W. Vine St., Redlands, CA 92373) or REDFOSA: Redlands Friends of Shelter Animals (P.O. Box 7547, Redlands, CA 92375).
