Becky “Yaya” Abitia, 81, of Redlands, California, passed away June 28, 2017, in Palm Springs California. Becky was born February 22, 1936 in Lordsburg, New Mexico.
She enjoyed going to church, reading her bible, watching game shows and spending time with her great–great nieces Jaylene and Jennifer and great–great nephew Jayson. She also enjoyed helping out at AJ’s Kitchen at the Holy Name of Jesus Hall and taking Jaylene, Jennifer, and Jayson with her. Going for walks and spending time her many friends at Vista del Sol also brought joy to her.
Becky is survived by her brothers Gilbert Abitia and Alex Abitia; nieces Paula Abitia and Genevieve Abitia; heart nieces Jennifer Lopez and Jaclyn Lopez; great-great nieces Jaylene Lopez and Jennifer Lopez-Monroe; great-great nephews Jayson Lopez and Jayden Harris. She is also survived by many more nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and many, many friends.
She asked that we not grieve for her, but be happy for her because she will be in heaven and will no longer be in pain. Rest in peace our dear Yaya, we love you and thank you for all you did for us and all the love you gave us. You will be missed more than words can say.

Mass Service: 11:00 am Thursday, July 6, 2017, Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1205 Columbia St., Redlands.
Burial to follow after mass service at Hillside Memorial Park, 1540 Alessandro Blvd, Redlands.
Reception: 1:00 pm at Holy Name of Jesus Hall, 1015 Columbia St., Redlands.
