Bernice Klipowicz Frackowiak Keippel was born in Poland, Europe on July 4, 1926. She passed away at the age of 91 on February 15, 2018.
She originally had 2 sisters and 1 brother, who died as a child from pneumonia. Bernice attended high school during WWII, she, her parents and her two sister were taken from their home and placed in a Work Camp.
She came to America with her husband and daughter in the summer of 1955 on the ship Queen Elizabeth, passage to New York, NY. One month later they traveled by train to Chicago, Illinois to meet with distant cousins.
She cleaned Commercial Businesses at the Prudential Building at first; then worked in the Sewing Industry on Belmont Avenue in Chicago near Madonna High School. Her long-time employer, Landis-Gyr Electronics, she later retired from this company.
She lived in Chicago with her first husband until he died in 1984 at age 62.
She later met and remarried to Richard Keippel on July 11, 1992.
They both came to California on April of 2004 to be with Bernice’s daughter, Christina, who moved to Palm Springs to work as a music teacher in 1998.
Bernice’s hobbies included dancing, cooking, and sewing. She also belonged to a French Club.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Christina Ghislaine Frackowiak Powell Hiner, and her husband, Richard Keippel.
