Bruce Ferrel Christensen

Bruce Ferrel Christensen, 73, died peacefully August 15, 2013 in Redlands, California. Bruce retired to Yucaipa, CA in 2007 with his sweetheart of 50 years, Nancy. He left a profound legacy to family, friends, acquaintances, and business associates. Bruce lived a rich and full life. He was born in Durango Colorado September 24, 1939 to Ora Taylor and William Ferrel Christensen while they were helping to run the her father s flour mill. He was the second of three children. He attended both BYU for 2 years and Utah Technical College for 2 years where he majored in auto body repair. He began a lifelong dedication to his religious faith with a call to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in Southern Australian Mission from 1960 to 1962. While he was there, he met the love of his life Nancy Fathers. Bruce had a firm faith in God and Jesus Christ. He was devoted to his religious beliefs and freely offered of his time and talent to fulfill responsibilities in the LDS church in various leadership positions and later served in the LDS Redlands CA Temple with wife, Nancy. He was a long time resident of Farmington, New Mexico where he grew up and worked in the family business, Tri-City Transfer and Storage. He and his brother Brent Christensen took over the business fully when his father retired. He taught his family the value of hard work and service to others. Bruce and Nancy came upon Yucaipa, CA after visiting their son Scott and daughter-in-law Sharilyn Christensen for vacations and family events. They decided to make the move to Yucaipa in 2007 and have made many wonderful friends here. Bruce and Nancy just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jun 28, 2013 with family. He is survived by his wife Nancy and their children Scott and his wife, Sharilyn, Mark and his wife, Julie, Ann-Marie and her husband, Dean Simmonds and Bradley Christensen and 11 grandchildren, and by Bruce s brother, William Brent Christensen and his wife, Karen . He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Christensen, by his parents, Ora and Ferrel Christensen and his sister, Erlene Richards. We will miss him but we will see him again in Heaven. Memorial services are scheduled for Monday August 19th at 10am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints at 306 E. Ave L, Calimesa, CA. There will no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to LDS Church mission fund or the ASPCA. There will be another memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, 4410 College Blvd, Farmington, NM tentatively, 10am August 21st. His body will be laid to rest at the Kirtland Cemetery in Kirtland NM.
