Caren “Jean” Siddle peacefully passed from this world into eternity with Jesus on 3 May 2019 after a short and debilitating battle with many illnesses that started in December of 2018.
Jean, and her loving husband of 57 years, George F. Siddle Jr., are the founding owners/operators of Jean’s Flower Basket and Payment Center in Yucaipa, established in 1981, they retired in 2015. Wherever they went, it has always been ‘Jean & George – George & Jean’. She often would say, “We roll as a team, that’s what works for us.”
Jean learned this growing up the youngest of three children in a working class family who migrated to California from Missouri when Jean was 3 years old. This was something Jean made sure was instilled in her own family as well. Always the encouraging support and glue holding her ‘tribe’ together, she will be remembered for an oversized, loving heart, a contagious laugh, warm smile, and a hug if needed.
God blessed Jean with a creative and entrepreneurial gift. As a young mom, she and her sister Carole sewed kids’ cloths that rivaled the store brands, always had a craft ready from needlepoint to ceramics to painting. She spent countless hours creating knitted toys for her great-grand kids. She was never afraid to come up with and chase a dream. She also had a heart for animals, including, at one point, pet pigmy goats, and a pot-bellied pig.
Jean has left a lasting legacy of encouragement, love, acceptance, and understanding to her family. It will not be easy without her guidance here, but her strength and determination is part of us all, forever and always in our hearts.
A celebration of Jean’s life will held at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel 35208 Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa, CA 92399 on Sunday 19 May at 2:00 PM.In lieu of flowers, monetary donations for medical expenses would be appreciated.
