Carrie Jean Coughlin

January 26, 1952 — October 4, 2018

Carrie Jean Coughlin passed away on October 4th, 2018 after a six-year battle against cancer.
Carrie was born January 26th, 1952 to parents Jim and Carolyn Leslie. She graduated from Arroyo High School in 1970 and Citrus College a few years later. In 1973 she married Patrick Coughlin, to whom she remained married for 45 years. Always an outgoing and social personality, Carrie stayed active her entire life, from her high school flag team to the various local community groups she joined after her retirement. During her time working for the Yucaipa school district she touched the lives of hundreds of students, many of whom have stayed in touch for years.
Aside from a couple of years in North Carolina while Patrick served in the Army, Carrie spent her life living in southern California. Over the years the two of them traveled all over the United States by car, camper, trailer, motorcycle and motor home and have friends throughout the country. After retiring, they took the opportunity to travel to China, Europe, the Caribbean, and Argentina.
Carrie enjoyed gardening, hikes around the neighborhood, motorcycle trips up the coast, visiting friends and family, and hosting dinners at home. She loved holidays, especially Christmas, and enjoyed decorating the house.
In 1984 Carrie gave birth to her only child Matthew, and had her first grandson Nolan in 2017. She was thrilled when Nolan learned to call her "Nana" and enjoyed babysitting whenever possible. She is survived by her husband Patrick, her parents Jim and Carolyn, her son Matthew and daughter-in-law Gabriela, her grandson Nolan, and the many friends and family who will miss her deeply.
A memorial service will be held at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands on Saturday, October 13th at 10am. In lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name: http://main.acsevents. org/goto/carriecoughlin.
