Carrol Yvonne Hair

Carrol Yvonne Hair passed away on December 14, 2024. Yvonne was born on November 28, 1949, in Madera CA, to Clifford and Ruth Owen. She grew up in the foothill area of Auberry and North Fork with her older brother, Marion Clifford Owen, and older sister, Billie Ruth Clark.

After graduating from Sierra High School in 1967, Yvonne attended Reedley College and began to study to be a dental hygienist. She never finished that course of study because a handsome Marine had other plans. Yvonne worked at Sears Department store in the collections department and eventually obtained her associate in arts degree from Fresno City College in 1984.

Yvonne met and married James Leslie Hair after he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. They married in Solvang CA, November 13, 1971. Yvonne took great joy in her chosen lifelong career of being a stay-at-home wife and homemaker. She honed her skills of cooking, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and many other related crafts and interests. Her greatest joy and achievement, other than loving and serving alongside her husband, was that of being the mother of their only child, their daughter Erin Faith Buchanan. Yvonne had an innate love of the Sierra Nevada mountains where she was raised and was privileged to support Jim in his 25-year career working for Southern California Edison’s Hydro Generation Division. They enjoyed the beauty of living in the mountain communities of Big Creek and Three Rivers until settling in the Yucaipa area in 1988. She faithfully gave her time and talents to various ministries in the local church and was known for her tremendous organizational abilities. Family and friends could always depend on a phone call or handwritten note from Yvonne on birthdays or special events.

Yvonne is predeceased by her beloved husband Jim Hair in 2020 and her brother Clifford Owen in 1990. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Erin and David Buchanan, “like a son and daughter” Bob and Diana Martin, and three precious granddaughters, Emily, Rebekah and Abigail. She also leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law Billie and Bob Clark, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Pam and Jim Reed, Patty and Fred Bearden, Jeanne and Dan Hair and beloved nieces and nephews and their families.

A combined memorial service for Yvonne and Jim Hair will be held in Yucaipa on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 11 am at Active Church, 12954 Bryant Street Yucaipa, CA 92399. Remembrances for Yvonne can be sent to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607 marked “Operation Christmas Child”.
