Charles Haskell Niemeyer,Jr. [March 8, 1920 - January 2, 2013 Charles Haskell Niemeyer, Jr., age 92, passed away on January 2, 2013 in Calimesa, Calif. Chuck, as everyone called him, was born on March 8, 1920 in Colorado. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWll. Chuck worked as a heavy equipment operator and belonged to Operating Engineers for over 60 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post 106. He held many titles in the American Legion including National Executive Committee, Past Sgt. of Arms for the Department of California, Past District #30 Commander and Past Post Commander. Chuck loved the American Legion and was sometimes called "Mr.American Legion". He was a great patriot and love this country. Chuck is survived by his daughter Judith E. Tackett of Coupeville,Wa.; his son David C. Niemeyer of Mohave Valley, Arizona; sister, Maxine Dale of Yucaipa; sister, Doris Groom of Pryor, Oklahoma; partner, Leha Head of Yucaipa. Grandpa Chuck had 8 loving grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1991. Graveside Services and Memorial will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 , 2:00pm at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.
