Danny J (Dan) Sumpter

May 20, 1951 — July 7, 2020

May 20, 1951 July 7, 2020
Danny (Dan) J. Sumpter of Redlands, CA. passed away unexpectedly at home in the early morning of July 7, 2020 from heart complications, at the age of 69, with his loving wife Silvia Sumpter by his side.
Danny was born in Webb City, Missouri, on May 20, 1951, to Thomas and Irene Sumpter. He graduated with the Class of 1969 from Webb City High School. He served in the Missouri National Guard. Danny was also a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Carthage, MO.
Danny was truly gifted when it came to understanding Mechanical Engineering. His accomplishments are endless. In high school he began training in a machine shop, and a few years later he went on to start up and manage his own shop in Missouri. In 1980 he began his journey with Reagent Chemical White Flyer in Webb City, MO. as a Production Operator. From there, he transferred to California in 1989, completing his final professional achievement as Plant Manager for Reagent Chemical White Flyer Targets in San Bernardino, CA., where he retired in 2018 but continued to be hands-on and involved as a Consultant for the company until the time of his death. Danny served the company for 39 wonderful years. During those years, Danny built genuine life-long friendships with some of his colleagues. He wasnt just their Employee, Boss, or Colleague, but rather a true Friend.
Danny was so passionate about nature and the outdoors. He loved camping, rock climbing, sunsets, the Moon, star gazing, golfing (Scored a Hole-in-One once! Such a proud moment for him), spending beautiful days in the pool, his Kansas City Chiefs (and as a huge fan, he was thrilled to have gotten the chance to see his K.C. Chiefs win the Super Bowl this year!), going to hockey games to cheer on his Anaheim Ducks, and watching his favorite golfers on TV. Joshua Tree was his favorite place to camp and build memories with his children. These same passions were passed down to his children and quickly these things became traditions for them as well. On October 27th, 2001, Danny married his best friend and soulmate, Silvia Guzman. He loved her with his whole heart; along with the 3 daughters she has from a previous relationship. The best adventures were with him and because of him. Danny loved being a Papa to his grandchildren. He taught them many life lessons, always rooted for them on the sidelines at their soccer games/events or supported any activity they were involved in. He completely cherished all the time they spent together. They were his treasure. We remember him in the sunsets we see and when the Moon shines bright at night.
Danny was a devoted, loving Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He touched many hearts near and far, shared many laughs, and aside from unconditional love, he gave the best gift of all beautiful memories. He will truly be missed.
Danny is survived by his loving wife Silvia; Children: Gretchen Sumpter Irwin (Ashland, OR), Scott (Erica) Sumpter (Seattle, WA), Adriana (Rick) Rodriguez (Redlands, CA), Alicia (Greg) Calvillo (Redlands, CA), Araceli (Tim) Kramer (Galloway, NJ), and Tod Stults (Hot Springs, AR).
