In Loving Memory of David Clifton Peters
November 12, 1943 - June 14, 2023
David Clifton Peters, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 14, 2023, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was 79 years old.
Born on November 12, 1943, in San Bernardino, CA, David would talk about running through the orange groves as well as working at the dairy farms with his brothers. At age 17, he joined the United States Navy. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from February, 1962, to June, 1966. During his years of service, he was aboard the USS Ticonderoga and USS Kearsarge and was based out of San Diego, CA.
After completing his years of service, David married the love of his life, Linda Diane (Herrington) Peters, on August 5, 1967. In 1971, they welcomed James David, and in 1974, they welcomed Kimberly Ann. As a family, we took many vacations around North America and created wonderful memories that we still speak about today.
David was a dedicated employee of the Redlands Unified School District from 1971 to 2005, where he played an integral role in maintaining and repairing typewriters and copy machines for many years. He had a sign that hung in his workshop that said “A job worth doing, is worth doing well.” That was his motto and that sign still hangs in his home. He retired in 2005 and my mom and dad began to plan all the adventures they spoke about during their marriage.
David will forever be remembered for his kindness, warm heart, and unwavering love for his family. He was a pillar of strength, offering support and encouragement to those around him, even during his own battles. He would do things HIS WAY!!!
David leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication. While his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He is survived by his children James Peters and Kimberly (Tony) Lott; his adoring grandchildren Emily and Justin Lott and Hannah and Madison Peters, and a host of friends and family. He would always take a moment to talk to anyone who was just walking by.
A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held on July 5, 2023. The viewing will be at Emerson Bartlett from 11 to 1 pm followed by graveside services at 1:30 at Montecito Cemetery.
