David Paul Speyer

October 12, 1946 — August 14, 2016

David Paul Speyer, age 69, of Oak Glen, California, was called home to eternal rest on August 14, 2016 at home while working in his apple orchard.
Born October 12, 1946 in Redlands, California to Daniel and Norma (Oetjen) Speyer, David attended Redlands schools until high school, when he went to the Webb School, a boarding school in Claremont, California. After high school, he continued his education at UC Santa Barbara, earning a Bachelors Degree in Economics, and following up with a Masters Degree in Accounting. After wandering Europe and eventually discovering a need for employment, he then worked as a CPA in Beverly Hills, California. David never lost his love of learning, however, and continued to take classes in Psychology and Music, and also studied Astronomy and Philosophy. Retiring early from his Accounting work, Dave returned home to care for his mother, and became an accomplished cook.
David loved choral music and met his cherished companion, Lynn Ivey, when they sang with the Inland Master Chorale, recently singing with the Pass Chorale, and several churches.
He and Lynn traveled to Europe, Canada and Alaska, and had a trip planned to Las Vegas where their engagement was to have been celebrated.
David is survived by his companion Lynn Ivey, brother Pieter Speyer of La Jolla, and niece Danielle. He will be greatly missed by his friends Bill Vestal and Shahrzhad Konsari.
He is predeceased by his father, Daniel (1987), and mother, Norma (1997).
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on September 17, 2016 at 11 AM, at Emmerson Barlett Memorial Chapel at 703 Brookside Ave, Redlands, California, 909-793-2311.
