It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie Smith on October 12, 2024 at the age of 71. Debbie was born on August 16, 1953 in Pomona CA to Thomas and Evelyn Winner.
While in her 20’s she started a family and had her daughter Christine and her son Eddie (Chad). She was so proud of her children and was an exemplary mother. When her children were in their teens she started working in Property Management. She met her last husband Sam Smith at one of her property jobs in 1995, found joy in helping to raise his niece (their goddaughter Destinei) and remained with him until his passing in 2009. She continued in her occupation until she quit working in 2020 due to health problems.
Her hobbies included knitting, taking care of all her plants, baking and keeping her home clean and beautiful. She took pride in herself and loved getting her hair and nails done. She like to play cards and listen to music and absolutely adored Elvis Presley. She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and a great smile.
Debbie was known for being a strong woman with much love for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren gave her strength during the rough times and joy ALL of the time and she showed all of them love by tons of hugs and little tokens to let them know she was thinking of them. She loved spending time with and spoiling her “baby guy” Alonzo and always made sure her granddog had all the toys she could possible want.
Debbie is preceded in joining the Lord by her Father and Mother, Thomas Winner and Evelyn Brown and her husband, Sam Smith.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Christine and Gino Gonzales; her son and his fiancé, Eddie Lawrence and Deniece Plant; her grandchildren, Ileen, Gino, Andrew and Alonzo Gonzales; granddog, Hope; her great grandchildren, Danielle and Nathaniel Gonzales, also her sisters, Cindy Dixon and Evelyn and Greg Munday; her brothers, Thomas Winner, Brian and Laurie Lessing and Duane and Tina Lessing and a huge amount of extended family who she took in and loved as her own.
