Dolores Houghland-Ellison, 85, went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2018.
She was born February 2,1933 in East Chicago, Indiana. In 1957 she and her late husband moved to the Ontario/Upland area, where she lived life to its fullest. Dolores was a fun loving, talented lady who enjoyed painting, floral design and traveling. She also was a very gifted singer and a member of her high school Glee Club. She continued sharing her singing talent while living in Upland by performing throughout the Inland Empire with her neighborhood musical group called, “The Francis Avenue Singers”. Having lived in Yucaipa for the last 12 years, Dolores has been an active member of the First Baptist Church where she met her current husband.
Though she enjoyed her many hobbies, faith and family were most precious to her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dolores’ greatest gift was sharing love. She made all who crossed her path feel special, ALWAYS greeting everyone with a hug and kiss.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Richard C. Houghland and six siblings.
She is survived by her husband of six years, Richard L. Ellison; Daughter Debra Bohannon and husband Ken; Son Dave Houghland; Daughter Diane Sweitzer and husband Gary; 5 grandchildren Megan, Brittany, Sean, Kirsti and Seth; and 4 great-grandchildren Lonnie, Tanner, Zoey and Grace.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 4th, at 1pm at Grace Point Fellowship Church Yucaipa, at 34784 Yucaipa Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations please be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association
