Donald Edward Anchors, 84, of Redlands, California passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2020.
Don was born on July 31, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank and Murlene (Howell) Anchors. He was the eighth of their ten children.
He married Dorothea Dea Himes on May 25, 1957 in Pittsburgh. Ten years later, they moved to California. Don worked at Fasson in Rancho Cucamonga for 30 years, before retiring as a Quality Assurance Manager.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved telling a good story (or two). Don enjoyed listening to Barbershop music, traveling, playing golf, and researching his family genealogy. You could tell that he truly appreciated life. He was a member of the American Legion in Fontana for many years. He was also a diehard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Penguins, and the Boston Celtics.
Don is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Terry Mayborn, his daughter, Joni Anchors, and his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Brian Rourk all of California; also, his sister, Joann Visconti, his brothers, Robert Anchors and Charles Anchors, all of Pennsylvania; as well as his grandchildren, Daniel Griggs, Brynn Campbell, Christopher Bainter, Jaymee Horn, Heather Small, Christopher Rourk, and Kyle Rourk; and great-grandchildren, Kyler and Carter Campbell, Alice Horn, Isla and Maverick Small.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. for family and close friends at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands, CA. His final resting place will be at Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands, CA. Due to Covid restrictions, masks will be required and there will be no reception following the service.
