Donald R. Chase, M.D. passed away on May 22nd. He was a graduate of LLU School of Medicine (76B) and had been an LLU School of Medicine faculty for almost all of his professional life. Don was a pathologist knowledgeable in the challenging area of soft tissue tumors and in 1995 he was appointed as the second Director of the California Tumor Tissue Registry (CTTR), an internationally known provider of continuing medical education for pathologists. He held this post until his retirement in 2015. Having dedicated his life to teaching he took great joy in being able, through CTTR study sets, to contribute to the education of almost all of the pathology residents in the USA and in many foreign countries as well. In 1991 he was the co-recipient of the Distinguished Humanitarian Award from the LLU Board of Trustees and in both 2006 and 2010 he received Teacher of the Year Award from his pathology residents. He was loved and respected by his many friends and his family and he will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 2, 2017, 1:00 pm at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, with reception to follow, 703 Brookside Ave, Redlands, California 92373.
