Doris G. Stock passed away peacefully on March 28. She was 96 years old.Doris was born on June 2, 1917 in Dodge Nebraska. She and her twin brother Dennis grew up in Dodge and moved to Minneapolis Minnesota during their teenage years. She graduated from Carleton College in Northfield Minnesota. She married John H. Stock in 1943 and spent the first couple of years as a Marine Corps wife during World War II. They set their roots down in Los Angeles, California raising their two daughters, Susan and Janet. Among the many things that she created were beaded décor flowers, needlepoint artwork, and a large glass tile mosaic of The Last Supper. She hand made her daughters Halloween costumes every year that usually won the elementary school costume contest. Her longest passion was making colorful Afghans in such numbers that when every friend and family member had received at least one, she and her husband would drive to Mexico and donate them to the orphanages there. Doris loved watching the game of golf on TV; however she never played. She got the love from her father, Tony Stecher, the Minnesota Hall of Fame sports promoter for wrestling and boxing who was an avid golfer. Doris will be remembered fondly by many. She was preceded in death by her husband John and daughter Janet in 2002. She is survived by her daughter Susan and her husband Tom.
