Dorothy Dot Polumbo

Dorothy Polumbo, Dot to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2013 after a valiant fight with lung cancer. Dot was born on September 21, 1943 in Baltimore, MD to James Jerome and Dorothy Rosalie Deasel. She lived most of her childhood in Parkville, MD graduating from Parkville High School in 1961. She attended St. Joseph s Nursing School. Dot moved to Redlands in 1976 when her husband at the time was transferred to Norton Air Force Base. She was employed for many years at Redlands Community Hospital and Epic Management, retiring in 2007. She was active in local PTAs, The Air Force Wives Club, a Girl Scout Leader and a very proud Great Y Circus Mom. She was an avid reader and sang in many choral groups, most notably the Offutt-Aires based at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Dot moved to Beaumont, CA in 2005. Dot is survived by two daughters and three grandchildren - Patricia and Timothy Haggard and their son, Jared Polumbo. Laurie and John Glavin and their daughters, Nicole and Heather. She also leaves 3 sisters, 2 brothers and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands at 11:00am. Family will be available at 10:00am to receive friends prior to the service. A small gathering will follow at Redlands Country Club. Per Mom s wishes, please do not wear black. Dot s family is extremely grateful for the incredible care and compassion provided by Mom s caregivers, Sally and Vicki, and the wonderful people at RCH Hospice. You are truly angels on Earth.
