Dorothy Elizabeth Krone-Cox

Dorothy Elizabeth Krone Cox passed away peacefully in Redlands on Thursday July 3, 2014. She was just shy of her 88th birthday. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband William H Cox Jr in 2010. Dorothy was born August 17, 1926 in Independence, Kansas to Jay and Anna Krone. Dorothy graduated from Elk City High School in 1944 where she served as salutatorian for the graduating class. After high school Dorothy moved to Washington D.C. to become a stenographer for the army during World War II. Dorothy settled in Arlington, VA and worked at the Pentagon in various positions for over 40 years before retiring in 1985. It was after retiring, that Dorothy and William rekindled their childhood friendship from growing up and attending school together in in Elk City. Eventually, Dorothy and William fell in love and married later in life. Dorothy not only gained a husband, but also a family who welcomed her as one of their own. Dorothy moved from Arlington VA. to California in 2003 and started a new chapter in her life, with a new husband, children and grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by a niece and nephew, four step daughters and one step son, several great nieces and nephews and many step grandchildren & great step grandchildren. Services will be held Friday July 11, 2014 at Emmerson & Bartlett Mortuary. A viewing will be held from 1PM to 1:45PM with services starting at 2PM.
