Douglas B. Pew, Jr.

Douglas B. Pew Jr. Douglas was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 26, 1939. He graduated from Purdue University School of Pharmacy in l961. Doug was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association and had pharmacy licenses in Ohio and Texas. After practicing pharmacy in Ohio for 2 years, he joined Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company in 1963. He moved to Redlands in that year and held a number of sales positions in the cities of Riverside, San Bernardino, and Loma Linda University Medical Center. While working for Eli Lilly, he was also a Board Member of the Juvenile Diabetes Association of Riverside and a member of the American Diabetes Association. His interest in diabetes also led him to help found the Inland Empire Council of Diabetes Educators and the diabetes teaching program at Loma Linda University Medical Center. In retirement, Doug became active in the community. He was a board member for the Friends of Hillside Memorial Park, President of the Redlands Symphony Association, and a volunteer at Caroline Park. He served on the Board of Redlanda Rotary Club. As a member of the First Congregational Church of Redlands, he was a deacon, and served on the Church Council and the Board of Directors. Doug is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda; their daughter, Laura Suzanna Rinaldi and her huband Joe, and their two sons, Gus and Milo; and son David Douglas Pew and his wife, Heather Schechner Pew and their daughter, Skylar Annabelle, of North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother Daniel of Redlands. Services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Redlands on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Redlands Symphony Association or the First Congregational Church of Redlands.
