Dr. Robert Louis Schmitt
November 12, 1963-December 14, 2023 Dr. Robert Louis Schmitt passed away at the age of sixty at his home in Redlands, California surrounded by his devoted wife and family after a long battle with thymic cancer.
Robert was born on November 12, 1963, to Gary Allan and Rochelle Schmitt in Anaheim, California. Robert was a sergeant in the United States Army from 1982 to 1986 with an Honorable Discharge. He graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. He then attended California State University, San Bernardino for his Master’s degree in Biology. At California State, he met his love, Jennifer (Teigen) Schmitt. He then attended Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2002. Robert married Jennifer on June 4, 1995, at the Misson Inn in Riverside, California. Robert completed a residency at Kaiser Fontana in 2005. They went on to have their son, Ian Robert on March 22, 2005. Robert is with his twin angels, Lilly and Ben in heaven. Robert’s faith was steadfast and never faltered through life’s challenges.
He was the most loving father and spouse a family could ask for. Robert loved to spend time with family, friends, and colleagues. Sharing his love for music-his passion, movies, whiskey, scotch, and wine. Robert was generous with his time. His door was always open both at work and home. He was the most genuine and caring human being. Robert’s kindness was legendary. His generosity was without bounds. Most importantly, Robert will be remembered for his wicked sense of humor. His patients continued to hope for his return after his battle with cancer. Many refused to be removed from his panel, after seven years with the hopes of his return to work. Robert’s integrity was beyond measure and recognized by all. He was recently named Southern California Permanente Medical Group Family Physician of the Year. His legacy will forever be. Robert is survived by his wife, Jennifer, son, Ian, and brother, Gregory.
