Born in Sweden on November 12, 1918, Edith flew away to be with the Lord on July 22nd 2009. I ll fly away was one of her favorite hymns and she sang it so beautifully. Born Edith Teresia Ingeborg Andersson, she left her Swedish family and homeland to live in the US with her American husband and son when travel restrictions were lifted after WWII. She and husband Carl Johnson farmed in Minnesota with their two sons until Carl s death in 1964. She relocated to the South Bay in 1966 and spent the rest of her life in Southern California. In 1973 she married Josef Kunst and enjoyed an idyllic retirement in the Yucaipa area until Joe s death in 2000. She was preceded in death by her 6 brothers and sisters, all back in Sweden, as well as both of her husbands. She is survived by her two sons; Bo Johnson (Shawna) of Magna, Utah and Carl Johnson (Marie) of Torrance, Ca. and stepson Peter Kunst (Sue) of Cusick, Washington. She leaves 3 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 5 great step grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren Although her memory left her far too early, her loving smile and gentle demeanor remained true to the end.
