Edward J. Lozano Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Redlands, died in his home on July 8, 2024, after battling a long illness. He was born on June 10, 1939. Edward always said he was born in a house on the corner of Lawton and Western Street close to St. Mary's Church, a parish where he had been a lifelong member. He was a 1958 graduate of Redlands High School where he was a member of the Future Framers of America.
Edward was a hard worker who enjoyed being outdoors gardening, fishing, and working on his vintage cars. His yard was always well kept with manicured shrubs and roses. His children remember what a big fan he was of roller derby and lucha libre, Mexican style wrestling. His love for animals fostered a love for dogs and cats in his children and grandchildren. Before his 34 years of service with Redlands Unified School District as a custodian for Kimberly Elementary School, Edward was a baker at the University of Redlands where his specialty was baking pies.
Edward is survived by his former wife, Lucille Lozano, mother to his children; daughter Theresa Armenta, and son Edward J. Lozano Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel Armenta (Cathryn); Arlene Armenta; Vanessa Armenta; Anthony Lozano (Amberly); Nicholas (Kaylee) Lozano, Zachery (Autumn) Lozano, Jessica Lozano; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Armenta. He is also survived by his sisters Elaine Tovar and Amy Torres; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his daughter Phyllis Leal, his parents Nick & Lucy Lozano, and his brother Richard Lozano.
