Ellamae Jurgens

Ellamae (Harvey) Jurgens, age 85, of Yucaipa, California, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011, in Pauma Valley, CA of heart failure resulting from a stroke May 30th. She was born June 26, 1926 in Gibbon, Nebraska, the fourth of five children, to Ralph and Lydia Harvey. There, on February 8, 1943, she married Gerhard Jurgens and of this marriage were born two daughters, Janie in 1946 and Marsha in 1950. In 1956, she and her family moved to Southern California living in various places until her husband s retirement to Yucaipa in 1983. Ellamae was a member of The United Methodist Church of Yucaipa whereas she was active in the UMW, the Bell Choir, Folk Dancing, and served on many committees. Her community work included Meals on Wheels, the Prison Inmate Program, visitation for elderly shut-ins, and received Woman of the Year Award for her dedication and service to others. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Gerhard. She is survived by her two daughters, Janie Imes (Pat) of Rolling Estates, CA, and Marsha Harris (Craig) of Pauma Valley, CA; two granddaughters, Anna (Imel) McElroy (Mike) of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Jessica (Imel) Dreiling (Daniel J.) and great-grandson, Daniel J.A. Dreiling, of Lomita, CA. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews around the country. Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel will be handling the arrangements. The funeral services for Mrs. Ellamae Jurgens will be conducted at The United Methodist Church of Yucaipa, Rev. Ron Faux officiating, on Monday August 29, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.. Interment to follow at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Calimesa, CA.
