Erin Mary McFadden

April 22, 1952 — February 1, 2025

Yucaipa

Erin Mary McFadden passed away suddenly in the early hours of February 1, 2025 at Redlands Community Hospital. Erin displayed great strength and courage throughout her short battle with colon cancer and was an inspiration to her family, neighbors and friends. Born on April 22, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA and raised in North Hollywood, CA , Erin always said that she loved the ‘valley’, the San Fernando Valley. She attended St. Patrick’s School and Walter Reed Junior High both in North Hollywood and graduated from Frederick Sasscer High School in Prince George’s County Maryland on June 9, 1970. Erin discovered the joy of music and singing in her early childhood while learning to play the guitar. It was a marriage made in Heaven. She never looked back. Music became the love of her life. Erin graduated from the University of Maryland May 11, 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and stayed an extra year to study Music composition. She played the euphonium in the University marching band as well as during her high school days. Erin moved to Santa Monica CA and lived there with her mother for 28 years. She went on to master several instruments including classical violin where she excelled in the UCLA and Santa Monica Orchestras. In 2014, Erin moved to Yucaipa CA. And since she was also an accomplished classical pianist, she spent time practicing her piano at the Yucaipa Senior Center once a week to the delight of an impromptu audience that would gather to hear her play. Erin lived the last 7 years of her life at the Yucaipa Terrace Senior Apartments. She loved Yucaipa, she loved her apartment and she loved to serenade the residents with her Country Western guitar selections during their many social gatherings in their community room. Erin was a devout Catholic and would attend the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Redlands, CA where she often sang accompaniment with the pianist. She touched the lives of many with her forthright manner, her laughter and the Irish twinkle in her eye. May she rest in Peace next to her beloved Mother in Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA. Internment to take place April 11, 2025. God gave her Music and she rejoiced!
