Eva K. Burgeson, 95, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 20th, 2015 after a courageous battle with complications from a stroke. She was born on February 21st, 1919, the 2nd of 7 children born to Norwegian immigrants on a farm near Florence, Minnesota. A few years after meeting on a blind date, Eva married the love of her life, Elgar Burgeson, in 1940. They moved to Dayton, Ohio during WWII so Elgar could work at Wright Patterson AFB. In 1945 they settled in Redlands, CA where Elgar worked in the sheet metal trade which led to the start of Burgeson's Heating & Air Conditioning in 1949. After raising 4 children Eva joined the business as bookkeeper and retired 20 years later. She had a great love and talent for painting china, oils and watercolors as well as being gifted in writing, crocheting, quilting, knitting and much more. Eva participated in many community organizations over the years; PTA, Scouts, the Great Y Circus, Chamber of Commerce and Redlands Art Association. She was also a past-President and dedicated member of the Son's of Norway Soldalen Lodge #67. She was a devoted and faithful member of the University United Methodist Church for 69 years. It is hardly possible to convey the dedication and service that was a part of her life in the church in just a few words however, she was active in the choir, as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, quilter, member of 60plus, Esther Lidia Circle, President of United Methodist Women and served as well with the Women's Society of Christian Service as well as Church Women United. Eva was preceded in death by son, Ronald Burgeson; granddaughter, Cindy Burgeson; daughter, Janet Burgeson and her husband of 65 years, Elgar Burgeson (they are reunited and will be celebrating their 75th anniv. together on Feb. 4th). Eva is survived by sister, Mary Wixon of Highland; son, Chuck Burgeson of Calimesa; daughter Dianne Burgeson of Redlands; daughter-in-law, MaryLou Burgeson of Yucaipa, 23 grandchildren, great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends near and far.
