Felicitas (Phyllis) Elizabeth Aguilar September 16, 1931 - January 24, 2015. Felicitas (Phyllis) Elizabeth Aguilar was born in San Bernardino on September 16, 1931 and passed from this life on January 24, 2015. She was a lifelong resident of East Highlands, a parishioner of St. John Bosco Mission and an alumnae of the San Bernardino Valley College Nursing Program. Phyllis served as a surgical nurse, with a career spanning over 40 years, including tenure at Redlands Community Hospital, St. Bernardine's Hospital and Loma Linda Community Hospital and University Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents Quirino (John) Aguilar and Fidela Ybarra Aguilar as well as her brother Frank Aguilar. Phyllis is survived by her brother, Richard Aguilar (Mary) and sister Mary Henrietta Chavez (David Sr.), as well as several nieces and nephews, including David Chavez, Jr. (Rhonda) of San Bernardino; Catherine Chavez Appel of San Diego (Morgan); Mark Chavez (Sarah) and Elizabeth Caldera (Christopher), both of Highland. An avid traveler in her younger years, Phyllis was a dedicated member of the St. John Bosco prayer group and a talented knitter. She made a profound impact on all those who had fortune to know her and will live forever in the hearts of friends and family. Viewing will be held Monday February 2, 2015 at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm Celebration of life services to be held at St.John Bosco Mission at 10:00 am on February 3 officiated by Monsignor John Ryan. Graveside service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery immediately thereafter.
