Frank Joseph Brito of Beaumont, Ca. passed away from complications of COVID 19 on January 21, 2021, at Redlands Community Hospital, with his family by his side.
Frank was born in Tulare, Ca. on August 20, 1932 to Manuel and Virginia Brito who were immigrants from Terceira, Azores, Portugal. Frank was the fourth of their five children. The family moved to Los Banos, Ca. and established a dairy farm, Los Banos became his hometown, as he attended school and made lifelong friends there.
Frank was drafted and served in the US Army from 1952-1954. In the Army he was assigned to the motor pool where he often chauffeured officers. He also drove trucks, which became his lifelong occupation.
Frank was a farm boy at heart and he, along with his brother in laws, Joe, John and Danny Pacheco, started collecting antique tractors. This began the tradition of an annual family reunion at the Tulare Antique Tractor Show which will continue in their honor, post COVID.
Frank was proud of his Portuguese heritage and was a member of the Portuguese American Club of Mentone. He also enjoyed attending the Rancho Cucamonga Senior Center, and the Victor Valley Widow and Widowers Club; he made friends wherever he went.
He lived a colorful life and always had a story to tell, from seeing UFOs on long distance truck routes, to his numerous youthful exploits.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Manuel Brito, Mary Ferreira, Alice Linhares and Emily Andre as well as the mother of his children, Catherine Brito.
He is survived by his daughters Diane (John) Moon, Beaumont, Ca., Linda (Mark) Ronderos, Rialto, Ca., his sons Frank, Upland, Ca. and Michael, Lancaster, Ca., his bonus daughter, Donna (Don) Tilger, Riverside, Ca., 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Daniel Pacheco, sister-in-law Barbara Bernardo, both of Visalia, Ca. and his many nieces and nephews. He was well loved and will be missed forever.
Services for Frank will be held on Tuesday March 9, 2021 from 9: 00am 10:00am at the Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Avenue Redlands, Ca 92374.
A Requiem Mass will follow at 11:00am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Redlands.
Internment will take place at the Riverside National Cemetery March 22, 2021 at 11:00am.
