Gary Thomas Wuchenich

It is with great sadness that the family announces that Gary T. Wuchenich died on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the age of 66. His five siblings were by his side. Gary was born to John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended elementary and high school in Pennsylvania, spending summers on his uncles’ farm outside of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Andrews University in Michigan, he earned his DDS at Loma Linda University. He practiced general dentistry in San Jose, after which he returned to Loma Linda University and completed a residency in endodontics. In 1997, he opened his special practice in Redlands, where his nieces and nephews worked during summers and after school. Gary enjoyed caring for patients both in his office and on mission trips to third world countries while supervising dental students. After retiring in 2013, he taught part-time at LLU School of Dentistry and at Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda. Gary was active in his community, the Loma Linda University Church of Seventh-day Adventists where he served as a deacon for many years, and his family foundation. He loved traveling, gardening, skiing, sailing, and raquetball with family and friends. Gary is survived by his siblings Nanette Wuchenich, Danielle Wuchenich, John and Gayle Rawles Wuchenich, Valerie Wuchenich-Nelson, Christopher and Melanie Wuchenich Jobe, 11 nieces and nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews. The viewing will be on Friday evening, April 20, 2018, from 5-9 pm at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands. The funeral service will be at 2 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2018, in the Loma Linda University Church Sanctuary in Loma Linda. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Department of Endodontics at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry; Loma Linda University Church; Lifeline Chicago, an organization which funds projects in Serbia and is supported by the John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich Foundation.
