Gene Curtis Hamen, 80, passed away in his sleep at home on Sunday, October 4, 2020 in Bloomington, California. He was born March 22, 1940 to Elvin and Aylce (Wubbena) Hamen in Huron, South Dakota. Gene was a loving father, husband, grandfather (papa) and friend to all.
Gene served in the National Guard from 1957 to 1960, his love was carpentry and he worked as a general contractor for over 47 years. He also enjoyed fishing, country music, blackjack and eating out. Gene was always there to help family with carpentry projects or whatever else they needed him for.
Survivors include his wife MaryAnn Hamen; his 4 sons and 2 daughters, Todd, Jeannine, Troy, Forrest, Scott, and Stacey; 12 grandchildren Joshua, Jason, Megan Christopher Hamen, Christopher Holm, Arianna, Hannah, Doug, Jasmine, Ginger, Lucas and Rebecca, and 8 great grandchildren; his brother Ken and sister in-law Judy; his son-in-love Steve, and daughter in-loves, Teresa, Tammy and Patricia; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; mother-in-law and his daughter Cecilia.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Gene touched are invited to celebrate his life at Emmerson-Barlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside, Redlands, CA 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2020, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
