Gilbert Arthur Ortega passed away Oct. 8th 2010 at Redlands Community Hospital. He was 70 years of age. He was born Nov. 26, 1939 in Riverside. He lived in Redlands most his life. He attended Redlands Schools before enlisting in the Marine Corp in 1956. He retired from the Marine Corp as a 1st Sergeant. He had a great love for his country, his wife Inez whom he was married to for 39 years, his family, golf, and fishing. Gilbert was a 40 year member of the Ortega-Navarro Golf Club and also a proud member of the American Legion Philip Marmolejo Post 650 of Redlands. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Virginia Ortega and brother Frank Ortega. He is survived by his wife Inez, his son Tony (Terri) of Banning, CA, son Frank (Samantha) of Littleton, CO, son David Christy) of Escondido, CA, son Jeff (Beth) of Rocklin, CA, stepson Alex Romero (Maria) of Anchorage, Alaska. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren. He has 2 sisters Linda (Sal) Navarro, Toni (Robert) Gonzales and brothers Tony (Joann), Ray and George all of Redlands, David of Simi Valley, CA, Richard (Candy) of San Bernardino, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing and Memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 at Emmerson-Bartlett chapel from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 15th at 10:30 A.M. at Riverside National Cemetery.
