Helen Catherine Quick died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Valentine s Day, February 14, 2010. Born the last of six children to Rufus and Letha Snodgrass on April 9, 1927, Helen spent her early years on a farm in Nixa, Missouri. She moved to California in 1944 to join her sister as an apple sorter at Parrish Pioneer Orchards in Oak Glen before settling in Banning, where she continued working and raising her children until her death. Helen was an accomplished seamstress, working in the industry most of life and delighting in creating clothing for her children, grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Some of her favorite moments were spent in the kitchen teaching her grandchildren to cook and bake and her Christmas baking was legendary. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved spending time surrounded by her family. In her later years, Helen became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints where she found comfort and peace within the church and its members. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Anna Erickson, Alma Cook, and Melvin and Monroe Snodgrass. She is survived by her brother Tilford (Pearl) Snodgrass of Redlands, California; her children: Roy (Kathy) Jackson of Mentone, California; Billy (Laura) Brown of Menifee, California; Cindy (Jeff) Gillis, and Michelle (Paul) Sower of South Lake Tahoe, California; her grandchildren: Angie, Shannon, Jimmie, Lee, Arthur, Diana, Emma; her great-grandchildren, Colin , Samantha and Bradley; and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed but forever with us. A Memorial Service will be held Friday morning, February 19, 2010 at 11 o clock at the Church Of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 6140 W. Wilson Avenue, in Banning, California. At her request, Helen will be cremated and her ashes scattered in South Lake Tahoe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the City of Hope.
