Helen Mattie Helfrich

Helen Mattie Helfrich of Yucaipa, CA passed away Thursday, November 12,, 2020 at the age of 86 and joined her late husband, Gerald John (Jerry) Helfrich in the kingdom of our Lord.
Helen Mattie (Davis) Helfrich was born July 1, 1934 in Albany, Georgia. She met the love of her life, Gerald John Helfrich when he was serving in the Air Force. They married in June 1951and moved to Jerrys hometown, La Crosse, Wisconsin, when his service ended. They built numerous homes in La Crosse and in 1963 moved their family to Redlands, California where they founded Inland Milling & Cabinet, later renamed as Redlands Door & Supply.
Through their working and semi-retirement years they built and renovated numerous homes and apartments to rent or sell in the Redlands, Yucaipa, Calimesa area. They sold the business in 1984 to have more time traveling the states and visiting family in their motorhome.
Jerry passed away in 1997 and Helen kept busy with the rental properties and doing some more traveling. She moved to Palm Dessert in 2003, enjoying the life that a retirement community offers and had a summer house in Yucaipa. She came back to Yucaipa permanently in 2013 to spend her remaining years closer to her children.
Helen is survived by three daughters: Ramona (Larry) Cunningham of Yucaipa, Zada (Greg) Burkeybile of Redlands, Jackie Harris of Yucaipa; One son: Gregory Helfrich of Yucaipa; Six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren: Three sisters: Arlene Browning of Homerville, GA, Diane Moore & Mary Poff of Blackshear, GA, and two brothers: Raymond Davis of Homerville, GA and Robert Davis of Newark, OH.
A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Mausoleum Building at the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, 1540 Alessandro Road, Redlands, CA 92373
