Henry Gerald Vandemeer

Henry Gerald Vandermeer, age 89 longtime resident of Redlands passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Born July 25, 1922 in Hull, Iowa, to John and Cornelia Vandermeer. He lived in Redlands for 86 years. He served in the U.S. Coastguard during WWII. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for 64 years and recently a member of The River Church in Redlands. He worked at GTE for 35 years. As a teenager he rode his bicycle to East Highland to deliver the Redlands Daily Facts. Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty; daughters, Linda Hosack and Nancy (Ken) Young, grandson, Scott (Liz) Young, granddaughter, Jill (Mark) Young McMurahie great-grandson, Rowan Henry Young McMurahie. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, September 25 at 2:00PM at The Village, 310 S. Wabash, Redlands, CA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to The Village.
