Howard Foist

Howard Foist, 93, of Redlands, died Sunday March 30.
He was born to the late Frank and Eva Foist, September 20, 1920 in Matthews, Indiana. Howard graduated from Elwood High School in 1938 and began his journey. His first job landed him the role of projectionist, it was here Howard met and married the late Patricia R. Foist in 1951. They lived together in Elwood In, Dayton and Orlando, before settling to Redlands in 1969.
As many other men of his era military service was looming. He joined the Navy in 1941 and was stationed to a submarine base at Dutch Harbor, Alaska until 1944. He returned to Elwood and the movie theatre business. In 1951 he went to work for the DOD as a motion picture lab supervisor and retired in such a role at the Aerospace Audio visual group at Norton Air Force Base in 1979.
Howard spent the rest of his days here in Redlands enjoying his family, watching sports and enjoying the community events of Redlands.
Howard is survived by two children: Kevin Howard Foist and Mark Foist of Redlands. He was preceded in death by his daughter Janet Foist and is survived by one grandchild.
Services will be held April 23rd at 1:15 pm at the Riverside National Cemetery.
