Irene Lucille Mccamey

August 30, 1919 — March 4, 2018

Irene Lucille McCamey  98, went home to be with Our Lord March 4th, 2018. Born August 30th, 1919 in Grand Island, Nebraska to William and Amelia Schwab. Irene
had 3 siblings, brothers Bill and Bud Schwab, and sister Maxine Melin. She had 2 children, Mary Peralta of Bullhead city, Arizona and Henry Journey of Beaumont, Ca.
She has 5 grandchildren, Pamela Mata of Arizona, David Burrow of Riverside, Ca, Tammie Pace of Arizona, Karen Mckee of Arizona, and Charles Journey of Oregon
Irene was born with Retinitis Pigmentosa and went blind as a young girl. Both her brothers also had the same blindness. She and her brothers went on to live very successful and amazing lives.  She attended the School for the Blind in Nebraska, along with her brothers. This is where Irene developed her Faith and Love for Music.  She was athletic with achievements in high pole jumps, and loved to skate at the rink.
She sang, played guitar/piano and composed a song titled “Christ is my Light”.  
She sang with her brother Bud (Earl)Schwab on a Los Angles Radio Station during the 40”s. Irene performed with her husband, Bob St. Clair  in different cities in Southern California in Musicals-Skits-Duos/Solos  at organizations, church’s & private venue’s. Music was her Life!
Irene had a “spirit of strength”, she was a determined woman and did not give up on anything along with a strong will to live! Proof of this was her placement into Hospice four times!
While living in Yucaipa, Ca. from 1971-1999 she attended First Baptist Church. When she returned to Yucaipa in 2011 she attended Yucaipa Christian Church with her Son and Daughter-in-law.
Special Love and Gratitude goes to her care-givers, those who loved on her and cared for her and have become extended family, Chandra Bridges & Family, Cherry Sasan, &  Cathy Guggisberg.  Many thanks to “Gloria B, Pastor Wade and Sharon with Inland Regional Hospice.
Music Celebration Service will be held March 16th at Emmerson & Bartlett Mortuary  703 Brookside Ave. , Redlands, Ca. 10:30 Viewing available, Service at 11am.
Short Burial to follow at Montecito Memorial Park 3520 East Washington St. at 1pm
