Irmagene Anderson

June 19, 1924 — December 20, 2015

Irmagene Davis Anderson, 91, passed away December 20, 2015 in Upland, California.
Genie, as she liked to be called, was born on June 19, 1924 in Kimball, Nebraska, to Randolph Churchill Davis and Kumi Anna Wehmeyer Davis.
She attended schools in Nebraska, and in the 1940s, she worked as a secretary in Memphis, Tennessee, Los Angeles, California, and Denver, Colorado, where she met Raymond Harley Anderson. On March 24, 1946, she and Raymond were married in Rogersville, Missouri.
Genie worked as a secretary for the British Columbia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and as cook for countless church camp meetings and summer camps in Oregon, British Columbia and California. An accomplished baker, she was well known for her bread and apple pies and made sure her children were well trained in “kitchen basics.”
With Raymond’s ministerial work in the Seventh-day Adventist church, Genie found herself relocating frequently: Loma Linda, Bakersfield, Madera, Santa Maria and Hollister, California. Genie was talented in quickly getting settled in each new home, and was never ruffled at yet another move, preferring to quip: “I’m just along for the ride!”
Genie and Ray retired to Roseburg, Oregon, but continued to travel in their motorhome to school and church reunions, visiting friends and relatives, spending winter months with their fellow “snowbirds” in Desert Hot Springs, California, playing golf and riding ATVs.
Genie is survived by her son, Carey James Anderson, of Harrisburg, Oregon, and Judith Anderson Vanderschel (Kirk) of Upland, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 2002 and son, Ronald Ray Anderson in 1991.
Irmagene will be buried next to her husband at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. Services will be private.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Redlands, California. Friends may write memories and sign the online guestbook at www.emmersonbartlett.com.
