Jack F. Merrill passed away on January 7, 2017. He was 90 years old. He was born John Francis (the youngest of 3) to Fred and Laura (Landry) Merrill on December 1, 1926 in Camarillo, CA. He met his first wife, Eleanor Ann Bates at college, where he was studying architecture. They were married in 1948. He served in the US Navy in the Korean War. When he returned he graduated from the University of Redlands with a Masters in Education. He then spent the next 30 years teaching US History at Yucaipa High School. He loved reading, politics, and anything related to JFK. He also loved playing the drums, listening to jazz and tickling the ivory keys on the piano.
He is survived by his older brother, Fred, second wife Mitzi, third wife Dorothy, and Rosemary Shadid. He is also survived by his four children: Brian Merrill, Christine Huffman (Ted), Pattie Nugent (Fernando), Mike Merrill (Tammi), his 5 grandchildren, and his 6 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, 11am, on January 17, 2017 at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E. Washington St., Colton, CA. (On the map this looks like it’s on Barton Road, just east of Reche Canyon, on the south side).
