James Baldwin (a.k.a. Jimmy, Jim, Big Jim, Daddy, Grumpa, Great Grandpa, Teddy Bear) was born in Los Angeles Ca. in 1942. He graduated High School in 1960. He was married to Susanne Lee Knapp on December 4, 1964. He and Sue were blessed with the birth of their only child, Karen Sue Baldwin on Feb 1, 1966. Jim worked as an auto mechanic at his family garage until he joined the maintenance department at the Long Beach, Ca. School District. He worked his way up to lead plumber until his retirement 14 years ago, after 27 years of dedicated service.
Jim then bought himself a little boat and trailer and proceeded to take many trips to the lakes around California. He loved camping with his daughter and grandchildren whenever he could. Jim had a few motorhomes and a camper after his retirement as well as a couple of boats. Those wonderful memories will last with Karen, Pete and his grandchildren forever.
Jim is preceded in death by his Father, John Parsons Baldwin, his Mother, Sarah Elizabeth Rice, and his brother, John Edgar Baldwin. Jim is survived by his brother Charles, his wife, Susanne, his daughter, Karen, his son-in-law, Peter, adopted daughter, Dawn Kubik, his 4 grandchildren, Janette Allen, Kelly McClelland, Sarah Ridder, and Charles Ridder, as well as his 9 Great grandchildren, Alex Ridder, Finnegan and Ella Allen, Gwendalynn and Laird McLelland, Milana and Andrew Rodriguez, Logan and Loki Ridder, as well as his best buddy, Matilda (his little dog of 13 years), and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends.
The funeral mass will be Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 115 W Olive Ave, Redlands, CA 92373, at 11:00 am. The celebration of life will follow from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at The Fisherman’s Retreat in the Lodge, 32300 San Timoteo Canyon Road, Redlands, CA 92373.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to American Heart Association.
