JAMES PERMANAND RAMSARAN, M.D. June 23, 1919~January 27, 2009 Will be greatly missed Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, James Permanand Ramsaran, M.D., 89, passed away January 27, 2009 in Redlands, CA. His body succumbed to Parkinson's, but his spirit lives on. Born on June 23, 1919, in Trinidad, West Indies, to the Reverend Samuel and Mrs. Martha Ramsaran and was a brother to Lloyd, John, George, Bertha, and Jemima. He married Jo-Carol Ayres, the love of his life, on October 3, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jo-Carol and his eldest son, David. He is survived by daughters; Bernice Poppen and family of Draper, UT and Devi Tong and son of Aptos, CA, and by sons; Rollin and family of Johnson City, TN and Krishna(Kris) and family of Redlands, CA., also Melida Ramsaran and family of Oak Hills, CA. Together with 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and family members in Trinidad, WI, Canada, and UK. James received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine (Omaha) in 1953 and went on to teach and practice psychiatry in the San Bernardino/Riverside area from 1964 to 1999. He practiced at Patton State Hospital, Riverside Regional Medical Center, and concluded his practice with San Bernardino County Mental Health He had a remarkable mind, and an incredible drive, teaching Latin and math for ten years to save up money to attend medical school in the USA. He provided a life long example of hard work, serving others, and lived an honest and humble life. He truly had an uncomplaining spirit, even as his health declined during the last few years. In addition to his many professional pursuits, James enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching Tiger Woods and Nebraska football games. The simple things in life were the most important to him. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Mission Commons Assisted Living in Redlands for their exceptional care. We love you Dad/Grandpa/Great-grandpa! Until we meet again, may God hold you near him, as we wish we could. There will always be an invisible string that connects you to our hearts. A Memorial Service to celebrate and remember James will be at 11am on Saturday February 28th at Emmerson-Barlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Bookside Ave. Redlands, CA.
