Jane Rogers Dill "She brought out the best in us" November 27, 1933 - May 9, 2015 Resident of Redlands, CA All of her life Jane brought out the best in all of us. Celia Jane Rogers Dill was born November 27, 1933 in Tucson, Arizona to Charles, Dean of Music at University of Arizona and Josephine J. Rogers, a High School English teacher and counselor. The family moved back East where her father worked for Ferguson Tractor Co., a division of Ford Motor Co. and her mother taught at Wayne University, Dearborn, Michigan. Her parents divorced when she was in Junior High School and Jane moved to Beverly Hills, California with her mom and siblings in order for her sister to pursue a film career. In 1951, Jane graduated from Beverly Hills High School and the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Jane attended University of Redlands, where she met and married John Dill. After graduating from U of R, Jane and John moved to Palm Springs, California. They had two children, John Montgomery (Monty) Dill and Beatrice Jo (Bea Jo) Dill. Jane and the children temporarily moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1960 where Jane earned her Master's degree in Psychology from Arizona State University. She and the children returned to Palm Springs, where she began very long and distinguished career in teaching. The family moved to Orange, California in 1966 where Jane enjoyed and excelled at teaching for 30 years at El Modena High School in Orange where she taught various subjects including English, History, Psychology, Economics, and she particularly enjoyed coaching the debate team. She was a demanding and highly skilled teacher who was much appreciated and well loved by students for her ability to apply academic skills and knowledge to everyday life. Jane and John were divorced in 1970. While teaching and raising her family, Jane earned a doctoral degree and various certifications and began interning in as a counselor in the field of marriage, family and children. In 1997, Jane was recognized with the Crystal Apple award for excellence in education from NBC Channel 4 and retired from public school teaching. She moved to Forest Falls, California and continued full time counselling with two offices, one in Redlands and another in Moreno Valley. By the time she retired in 2009 she had 25 years as a marriage, family, and child therapist and co-wrote a book titled "Banishing Night Terrors and Nightmares". Jane enjoyed traveling - Africa, England, Europe, Costa Rica, Russia, Canada, and China were a few of the places she visited with friends and family. She loved music and sang with various choirs. Jane contributed her leadership skills to American Association of University Women (AAUW) as a former Redlands branch president, and worked on various committees and projects, including chairing the "I Am, Therefore I Think" interest group. Jane is survived by her son, Monty, and daughter, Bea Jo, both of Redlands, CA; and her three granddaughters, Monica McCreary, of Washington, D.C; Jessica McCreary of Colorado Springs , CO; and Erica Dill, of San Diego, CA. Services will be held Saturday May 30th at 9:00 am at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Redlands,CA. . Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the AAUW Redlands Chapter.
