Janis Evelyn Griffith

June 12, 1939 — February 22, 2021

Janis Evelyn (Inman) Griffith, 81, passed away at home in Redlands on Monday February 22, 2021.
A little over a year ago, she had a stroke and was hospitalized. During the hospitalization a brain mass was found. Removal of the mass was dangerous, and Janis made the brave decision to move on without treatment. This was not the first health hurdle she encountered as she was also a breast cancer survivor. Throughout the year her health declined, and slowly she lost strength and passed peacefully in her sleep.
Janis was born in Galena, Kansas, on June 12, 1939, to Thomas Franklin Inman and Josephine Lorraine (Endicott) Inman. She, along with her two brothers Samuel and Jack, and sister Sandra grew up in Kansas.
As a young teen, she met Lloyd Griffith, who was a friend of her older brothers. The two quickly became inseparable and married in 1956.
Janis and Lloyd moved to California shortly after getting married. They returned to Kansas in 1959. Their daughter Lori was born, and not long after that they decided to become permanent California residents. After returning to California, their daughter Terri was born. They lived in Mentone near Lloyds mother Jessie Dutton and step-father Didrick Dutton.
Their love story was one for the books. They loved each other truly and deeply even after 61 years of marriage and took on even the hardest of times with grace and poise.
Janis worked as a Certified Nurse for many years. She was passionate about helping others and always brought warmth and kindness to those around her. She worked in the health care industry for 30 years. Later on, she worked for Redlands Unified School District as an office clerk.
Janis has a strong love for God, and always attended church. She attended the Mentone Assembly of God Church, the Redlands Packinghouse Church and Mentone Faith Chapel. After losing Lloyd in 2017, her faith only grew stronger, as she knew one day they would be together again.
Over the years Janis and Lloyd enjoyed attending stock car races and RV camping. They shared many friends in the racing industry. Janis also loved gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family making memories.
She is so loved by her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by everyone. She always had a smile on her face, and her warm hugs will never be forgotten.
Janis is survived by her sister, Sandra (Bud) Booth, Kansas; daughters Lori (Tom) Cortes, Banning, Terri (Rob) McMahan, Redlands; grandchildren, Robby (Melissa) Dofflow, Yucaipa, Daniel (Dana) Dofflow, Arizona, Stephanie (Josh) Johnson, Banning, Andrew (Vangie) McMahan, San Bernardino; and 7 great grandchildren.
Services for Janis will be held on Thursday March 11, 2021. Her viewing will be at Mentone Faith Chapel from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Followed by a church service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. She will then be laid to rest beside her loving husband Lloyd, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Calimesa at 1 p.m.
