Dr. Jeffrey Norman Ng, DDS
Dr. Jeffrey Norman Ng was born in Stockton, California, September 6,1955, the third child of Lola and John Ng. Lola was a schoolteacher and John was an educator with the California Department of Corrections.
The family moved to Riverside where Jeff graduated from Norte Vista High School in 1973. He played varsity tennis there and was a ten-year 4-H member, achieving the rank of All-Star for Riverside County. He was named after a close friend of his father who was a dentist. He saw how comfortable and affluent the man behind the drill seemed and always knew what he wanted to be. While many people leave behind their youthful dreams when the reality of reaching them becomes clear, Jeff carried through on his. Graduating pre-med from the University of California, Riverside in 1977 with a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Biology, he continued his education by achieving his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at UCLA in 1981.
While attending UCLA Jeff met and married Shannon Lynn Houlihan. After graduation, Jeff began practicing dentistry with Hospitality Dental Group before purchasing his own practice in Upland, California. He added a second office in Yucaipa in 1989, which he expanded and moved to Calimesa. Both practices were successful and Jeff was always known as one of the gentlest and most easygoing dentists in the area.
Together Jeff and Shannon raised four children; Katie, Meghan, John and Molly. He was a loving and devoted father, unwavering in his love and commitment to his family. Unfortunately, after 22 years, Jeff and Shannon divorced in 2004.
Jeff subsequently met and fell in love with Christa Shewbridge after meeting her at the satellite wagering facility where she worked.
In 2010, Jeff suffered a debilitating stroke, but with tremendous support from his family, he made a remarkable recovery. He worked hard at his therapy, determined to go back to his dental practice. Unfortunately, he was unable to maintain a demanding schedule and had to retire.
Jeff and Christa were married in June 2014. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren: Alex, Max, Elisabeth, Wiley and Sullivan. He loved cooking for his family, fishing, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America as an assistant Scoutmaster.
Jeff was preceded in death by his sister Judy (Sarge) Pauline, brother Ken (Nancy) Ng and father John Sippy Ng. He is survived by his mother Lola Chun Ng, his wife Christa; his children, Katie (Jeff) Alberts, Meghan (Josh) Nyback, John, and Molly. He is also survived by two sisters; Kathy (Keith) Watrous, and Jennifer (John) D’Atri and the five grandchildren. He shared a very special relationship with his niece Courtney (Asif) Shaikh, raising her as another daughter. His extended family includes five nieces and four nephews, many cousins and lifelong friends. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.
