John L. Hovell

John (Larry) Hovell, 68, of Redlands, died Tuesday. He was born to the late Clem and Marie Hovell, Feb. 20, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA. Larry joined the Navy in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He married Joyce Hovell in 1963, and they lived in Redlands for 43 years. Larry was a Flight Examiner and Chief Pilot until he retired in 2009 and was also the owner of Aero Tech Academy until 2009. He also owned Hovell Electric which he opened in 1969. Larry loved to fly, find new electronics to play with, and work on computers. He loved to play with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Larry is survived by his wife Joyce, of Redlands, and his daughter Peggy. He also is survived by his 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. A memorial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday Feb. 13th at Emmerson Mortuary.
