John Robert Campbell, 82, of Redlands died Sunday from prostate cancer at Plymouth Village Retirement Community. John was a good father and very generous to his family, friends, and church. John worked for the County of San Bernardino Department of Building and Safety as a plans examiner for 27 years. John loved body surfing, the beach, plays, operas, swimming and time with family. John was drafted in into the US Army during Korean War he served as a medic with the 10th Inf medical company from 1953 to 1955 honorably. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph McAllister Campbell and Mary Francis (Lawrence) of Upland, CA and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph (Mary Jo) of Oceanside, CA. Beloved father, John, is survived by his four children: Steven (Debbie) of Redlands, Kevin (Jennifer) of Redlands, Robert (Pamela) of Calimesa and Janet (Duane) Stemple of Redlands. He is survived by 13 grandchildren: Stacey Mack (Douglas) of Merritt Island, FL, Steven Campbell (fiance Katrina Erica Lee) of Schertz, TX, Cameron and Jacob Campbell of Redlands; Paige, Alexandra and Weston Campbell of Redlands; Brian Becker (fiance Toni Scheidecker) of Calimesa, Tara, Sierra and Savannah also of Calimesa; Finnegan and Verity Stemple of Redlands. As well as 4 great grandchildren: Malachi Campbell of Schertz, TX; Nicholas, Alexa and Kayla of Merritt Island, FL. Viewing for John is Monday, April 25th at 5 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Emerson Bartlett Funeral Home in Redlands. Funeral is Tuesday, April 26th at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church of Redlands. Interment will be immediately following at Monticitor Cemetery of Colton. The family is asking for contributions to be made in John’s name to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's research in lieu of flowers.
